Student social routines for remote learning - 19/01/2021
Dear Parents/Carers,
We hope you are all keeping safe and well during this second lock down.
It's obviously disappointing that we have not been able to start the new term in the way we would like, with all pupils in school, but we have been hugely impressed by the way they have risen to the challenge of remote learning. The dedication and commitment our pupils are showing on a daily basis when completing their studies at home has been exceptional and we would also like to take this opportunity to thank parents/carers for all the support you are giving them.
In order for pupils to get the most out of the home learning experience, and to support families through these challenging and often difficult times, we have attached a letter outlining some new additions to the online school day, alongside a range of ideas and best practice for pupils to follow. Please take the time to read through the document with your child/children so that you can make the routines part of their daily learning.
From Monday 25th January, we will be including a morning and afternoon 'live' registration session for pupils to attend. The AM form time will be from 8.40am - 8.55am with their form tutor. The register will be taken and messages and information given out for the day. If a pupil does not attend AM form time then a text message will be sent out to their parent/carer to notify them of the absence. The afternoon registration will be from 1.45pm - 1.50pm each day. This will be with their usual Period 5 teacher. Again, a register will be taken and it will be an opportunity for pupils to ask questions and check understanding of the lesson aims with their subject teacher.
If you have any questions or would like further clarification on any of the points raised in the letter then please do not hesitate to contact the school reception, either by email or phone call. A member of staff will then respond to your request.
Yours faithfully,
Trevor Gannon
Assistant Headteacher
