Teacher Strike Action - Wednesday 1st March 2023
Dear Parent/Carer,
Wednesday 1st March sees the next day of strike action for teaching staff in the Eastern Region who are members of the National Education Union.
As such, Sewell Park Academy will once again be closed to all pupils except those who were previously invited in on Wednesday 1st February, who were identified as vulnerable or in Year 11. We will be offering supervised study for these pupils and those in Year 11 will still be able to attend their timetabled lesson should their teacher be in school. As standard practice at SPA, Google Classroom contains remote learning maps for each subject which may provide support for students at home.
In the event that strike action is suspended, all students will be expected to attend as normal.
School meals will be provided for all pupils attending the school plus those who are entitled to Free School Meals who are not in school. This will include a hot meal which will be available to have in the canteen during lunchtime (1.20pm-2pm). Students who are not in school and are entitled to a Free School Meal, should arrive via the Chestnut Nursery gate between 1.20pm and 1.30pm and go directly to the canteen. If your child will be coming in for their Free School Meal, please let us know by filling in the brief google form below.
We apologise for any disruption this causes however, our first consideration will always be the safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff and this has been our key consideration in coming to this decision.
We will be in touch again to clarify arrangements on any future strike dates and, in the meantime, ask for your patience and understanding during this time.
Regards,
Sewell Park Academy
